HMS Collingwood hosts first Learning Day

The Learning and Development team at HMS Collingwood have just held their inaugural Education and Training Open Day.

The aim of the day was to share inspiration and best practice amongst the community of Trainers and educational professionals on the establishment.

There were a number of workshops and events taking place throughout the day, on topics which included; The PREVENT Agenda, using technology in lessons, and an introduction to The Society of Education & Training.

One of the event organisers and Learning and Development Coach, Louise Fowler of Babcock International Group, said of this event, “this was the first of hopefully many more to come. We are hoping to replicate the event at HMS Raleigh in the near future.

"It went really well, we had a very positive response from all those who attended and hope that it was beneficial to everyone.”

Captain Andy Jordan, Captain Maritime Warfare School (MWS) also attended, together with representatives from The Education & Training Foundation, Training Group Officers and representatives from The Defence Centre for Training Support.

Captain Jordan said, “I was delighted to be invited to support this event. Continuous Personal Development is fundamental to our ability to continue to deliver world class training here at the MWS.”
