LNTM No 57/22

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN by the Queen's Harbour Master Portsmouth and that on Thursday 3 June 2022, at approximately 2145, a beacon will be lit on the end of HMS Warrior’s jetty followed by short pyrotechnic display which will take place from a Baker Trayte barge, held in the centre of the main channel. The firework display will last for approximately four minutes and the beacon will be lit until 2200. The events are part of commemorations of Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

2. The barge will be positioned in the centre of the channel, abeam HMS Warrior, just before the display, under control by Baker Trayte multi-cat “UNCLE BILL”, with the precise position dependent on the wind conditions on the day. An exclusion zone of 100 metres radius will be established around the barge for the duration of the display.

3. QHM will establish a short closed harbour period for all traffic (including vessels under 20 metres in length) to ensure no traffic movements are in progress in the area from the Ballast Pile in the south to the northern edge of the Oil Fuel Jetty in the north. This will be established on VHF Ch11, and no large ships will be allowed to pass OSB or depart from Portsmouth International Port in the period 2115 to 2145. No vessels will be permitted to be underway in the area between Ballast Pile and the northern edge of Oil Fuel Jetty during the period 2135 to 2200. Wightlink car ferries may be permitted to continue operations at QHM’s discretion.

4. For further information on the evening, contact QHM on VHF Ch11.

5. Mariners are advised to remain clear of this activity and be aware of the impact of pyrotechnics on their night vision and hearing. A sécurité broadcast will be made by QHM prior to, and on completion of the event.
